Let the little children come unto me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it. Luke 18: 16-17 There was a time when Christian Education was just a fancy word for Sunday School. No longer! At First Presbyterian Church, Haddonfield, Christian Education affords all age groups an opportunity to learn how we can live as Christians in a secular world. What are the lessons the Bible teaches us? How do we pray? What help can God give us as we face increasingly tough decisions in our lives? We offer Sunday School classes for children age 3 through Adult every Sunday from September through June, 9:30 am to 10:30. During the week you can enjoy a study led by our Pastor. Small group studies are also occasionally offered. During the summer other programs, such as Vacation Bible School and small group studies, are available. For parents wishing to take advantage of Adult Christian Education classes, childcare is offered on Sunday mornings from 9:15 am until 12:15. During the summer, childcare is offered for parents who want to attend the 10:00 am Worship Service. Educational Mission Statement First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield Relying on God’s help through the Holy Spirit, the congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield seeks to follow Christ’s mandate to teach and make disciples in His name. In order to nurture all of our members to full maturity as Christ’s disciples, we believe that our educational ministry should: - root itself in the Bible
- reflect our historical, Reformed tradition
- design programming for persons of all ages in a context of community
- help all to hear and respond to God’s call
- encourage acceptance and celebration of our differences and our individual gifts as created intentionally by God
- give all members opportunities to deepen their relationship with God through prayer and studying the Scriptures
- enable persons to model Christian discipleship within the faith community and the world
- teach each person to proclaim the “Good News” that God sent Jesus into the world to love and redeem the world
- direct members toward participation in Christ’s mission in the world
We believe that, in order to meet these goals, every person in our congregation must be involved in study, worship, and mission. The function of the educational ministry is to equip us for this work, drawing the strands of our life together, so that our study informs our mission and both are grounded in our worship of God. | For Sunday School registration form, release form, and other forms, click on the FORMS link on the side bar. | |
