Marisa McGovern, Preschool Director

After spending many years as a preschool parent at Presby, Marisa joined the staff at First Presbyterian in 2018 as a curriculum consultant for the preschool. Marisa transitioned into the Preschool Director position in 2020 after working closely with curriculum, policy, and staff members. Marisa studied Early Childhood Development at Syracuse University and went on to receive her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. She taught Kindergarten - 2nd grade and worked as a literacy coordinator for 12 years for Moorestown Public Schools. She chose to step away from her career in 2013 to devote time to her family and raise her three boys, Connor, Quinn, and Owen.

Marisa is passionate about creating a nurturing environment for young children and their families. She brings a deep commitment to research based early childhood education, focusing on fostering curiosity, kindness, and a love of learning during the formative preschool years. As director, Marisa partners closely with teachers and families to support each child’s social, emotional, and academic growth. She believes that preschool should be a joyful place where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore the wonder of this world together.
