Youth Ministry

"For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth. Upon you I have leaned from my birth; it was you who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you." Psalm 71:5-6

Confirmation Update, September 2020:
After discussions with the Christian Education Committee Chair and the Confirmation Teachers, we have determined the most meaningful Confirmation experience for your children would be to incorporate at least 50% of the class as in-person learning. The topics covered and the dynamic of the group discussing, struggling, debating, and working their way through the concepts together is a vital part of the process.  Weighing that conclusion with your concerns and the directives from the Church, and realizing that in person learning may be more tenable in future months, we have decided to postpone Confirmation Class until 2021. We will be working closely with the Church’s COVID Response Team as well as local health officials as the end of 2020 approaches to determine when it will be safe to adequately instruct your children on this important and vital part of their faith journey.

We will continue to keep you apprised of any future plans with this Confirmation class schedule.  Delaying the class was not our first choice, but we feel it is the best choice given the current landscape.

If your child did not receive their study bible, please e-mail me at to make arrangements.

The Youth Ministry program at First Presbyterian Church seeks to create a safe environment where young people can be themselves, have fun, ask big questions, and grow in faith together.

We are committed to embracing the youth of the church in all aspects of congregational life, and to teaching and modeling the love of Jesus Christ.

First Presbyterian offers many opportunities for 6th – 12th graders to become involved. Opportunities include Sunday School, Youth Group, Mission Trips, Bible Study, service projects, Music Ministry, and much more!

Each fall, 9th graders are invited to participate in Confirmation class to study Christian and Reformed traditions in depth and to make a decision about joining the church formally. Confirmation Class meets from 10:00am-12:30 pm.

.All Sunday School classes begin in the Sanctuary with the 10 am Worship Service!

"I pray that...Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:17-19
