Governance

First Presbyterian Church Governance

The Presbyterian Church (USA) and First Presbyterian Church in particular are run by a combination of ruling elders (the Session), interacting session committees, pastoral leadership, and an active voting membership. First Presbyterian follows a set of by-laws written to adhere to the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s Book of Order. In addition, the Board of Deacons tends to the membership with direct support and pastoral care.

The following links are to documents important to the membership of the church. Any questions on details can be directed to the church office, one of the pastors, or the the Governance Committee.

The unity of believers in Christ is reflected in the rich diversity of the Church’s membership. In Christ, by the power of the Spirit, God unites persons through baptism regardless of race, ethnicity, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, geography, or theological conviction.
