We Are Reformed
Presbyterians are Reformed Christians, a branch of Protestant Christianity influenced by the 16th century Reformer John Calvin. Hallmarks of the Reformed tradition are:
- the belief that God elects human beings for service as well as salvation,
- the practices of simplicity in worship and generosity with time, talents, and money, and
- the awareness of the human tendency toward idolatry and tyranny and our calling to transform society by doing justice.
We Are Presbyterian
"Presbyterian" comes from a Greek word meaning "elder." In Presbyterian churches, lay elders share authority with ordained ministers. Elders serve on governing boards called Sessions. Sessions elect elders to higher governing bodies, called presbyteries, that exercise oversight over regional groups of congregations.
We are part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), the largest Presbyterian denomination in the United States. We believe that God calls women and men to all ministries in the church.
Our Vision, Mission, and Core Values
Christ's joy, justice, and compassion, in all, through all, and for all.
We worship, study, and serve to discover God, connect with one another and the world, and become God’s instruments of transformation.
We are a collaborative and compassionate community. We seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We welcome everyone. We identify needs in the community and provide ministries that meet those needs and transform the community. We act as responsible caretakers for the creation.
